The Department of Surgery at New York Hospital Queens welcomes you! Our Department provides core surgical services within the preeminent acute care institution of Queens, New York, and maintains a flourishing surgical residency program.

The busy clinical schedule of the department's staff is complemented by a vital academic program that helps keeps department clinical capabilities on the cutting edge of technology and advancing surgical protocols.   These academic pursuits have at their core a surgical residency program which graduates 4 young surgeons each year.

"The Department of Surgery at New York Hospital Queens is a very busy clinical and academic service which provides the finest surgical and peri-operative care to individuals from the entire greater New York area. Our staff of surgeons numbers over 200, and is comprised of a large group of gifted general surgeons as well as accomplished practitioners from all of the major specialty areas. Because of the vast experience and talent of our attending staff, NYHQ is able to provide the community with surgical care that is second to none.

As a teaching institution, NYHQ supports an excellent surgical residency program which is central to all department activities. Surgical patients benefit from both the around-the-clock attentions of our residents as well as from the academic pursuits of the attending staff whose tradition of intellectual inquiry forms the undergirding of resident education. We are also committed to a program of continuous review of surgical methods and outcomes, seeking always to devise new and better techniques from which our patients may benefit. I am justifiably proud of the care which this union of clinical experience and academic activity allows us to deliver to each patient.
